Through education, teeth cleaning, and preventative treatments we work with you and your child to reduce the occurrence of cavities. When they do occur, though, we want you to know that we have options to stop the decay and protect your child’s health.
In some cases, we can apply silver diamine fluoride treatment to baby teeth to halt the decay, though it does leave a dark, silvered stain behind where it touches that decay (not on the healthy enamel of the tooth). If you prefer to treat your child’s cavity with a more invisible yet equally effective method, our tooth-colored BPA-free fillings may be your preferred choice.

Instead of words that may sound scary, try playful phrases like "tooth counter," or "smile helper." Even very young children notice tone and emotion, and cheerful words help create a relaxed experience for everyone. During the appointment, Dr. Karan will gently check your child's growing teeth and gums to make sure everything is developing properly. By this time, your child may have a few tiny teeth, and we will carefully look them over to be sure they are healthy and strong.
We keep visits light, friendly, and comfortable, helping children feel at ease while learning that dental care can be a positive experience. A large portion of the first visit focuses on guiding parents. We encourage both parents or caregivers to participate whenever possible. Dr. Karan will talk with you about nutrition, daily smile care, and healthy habits that support strong teeth. You will learn how to care for your baby's teeth at home, what to watch for as your child grows, and simple ways to keep their smile sparkling.
