Meet the Team Howell, NJ

Hi! I am Dr. Karan, welcome to my practice. I graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After working in the art world for several years at Sotheby’s International in New York City, I returned to dental school and completed my Doctor of Dental Surgery at Columbia University. I also completed my pediatric dentistry training at the highly respected program at Columbia University-New York Presbyterian Hospital in 2008 and became board-certified the following year. It is here that I received specialized training to help patients with special needs. When not in the office, I enjoy traveling, doing volunteer work and spending time with my family. My favorite role to date is being Auntie to my niece Hayleigh-Reece.

Johanna is our Team Lead. She has been in the dental field for over 20 years. She started at the age of 17 as a dental assistant and has progressed to her current role.  Johanna is a proud mother of four beautiful children. She has a natural passion for working in a pediatric dental office and strives to create a welcoming, family-friendly environment. Outside of work she enjoys reading, cooking, and staying active, which helps her maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Kayla is Dr. Karan’s lead assistant. She has been working in the dental field since she graduated high school in 2014. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her two boys and her family. In the summer if she’s not at home, you’ll find her at the beach.

Amanda is our hygienist that has been with us for almost 10 years. She graduated from Middlesex College in 2016 and has been with us ever since! Amanda visits our local schools to educate children on oral health, and she has travelled with Dr. Karan on several mission trips to provide care for people in need. Outside of the office, Amanda enjoys spending time with her fiancé, two dachshunds Oscar and Larry, and traveling the world. She hopes to eventually visit every continent.

Kathy is one of our hygienists who has years of experience in Pediatric Dentistry and orthodontics. She loves helping kids feel comfortable and confident at the dentist. Kathy graduated from Eastern International College in 2019 and previously worked as an orthodontic assistant for 15 years. When she’s not caring about smiles, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Leeann is a trained equestrian who made a career change to be a Dental Assistant. She has been with us for four years. She has a son named Santino. When not at work, LeeAnn enjoys being a mommy and cherishing all the little moments with him.

Prior to working in dentistry, Christina was a medical assistant for 13 years. Feeling ready for a change, she decided to transition into the dental field, where she could work with children, a passion of hers. Christina also loves to travel and enjoy quality time with her son.
