Check-Ups | Cleanings | Consultations
The American Dental Association recommends teeth cleanings and check-ups twice a year for children. When you schedule with Howell Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Karan and our staff will take the time to get to know your child and make sure they’re feeling relaxed and comfortable with us and our space.
Along with a comprehensive examination and cleaning, we will discuss brushing techniques, flossing, fluoride recommendations, oral healthcare habits, and nutritional counseling. All these tidbits of wisdom will be thoroughly explained in child-friendly terms, and we love answering any questions you or your child may have.
To help ensure your child’s visit is positive and enjoyable, inform your child of the purpose of the visit in a casual way beforehand. Avoid using fear-triggering words such as “needle,” “pull,” “drill,” or “hurt.” Dr. Karan and our whole team here at Howell Pediatric Dentistry will communicate with your child in a non-threatening way, helping to keep them calm and comfortable.
As a parent, you are always welcome to accompany your child to the treatment room (especially on the first visit), unless you choose otherwise. However, we do ask that multiple family members not accompany the child, as this can often be a source of distraction.
Have an Unscheduled Dental Concern for Your Child?
We know that toothaches, accidents and mishaps, and other dental or oral health concerns can pop up anytime. If you have a dental or oral-health related concern about your child, please don’t hesitate to call us outside of your regular cleaning and check-up schedule to request a consultation. You can count on us to answer your questions and help create solutions for your child’s oral wellness.
